Procedures
The role of Medhelp team is to act as a facilitator, bringing our clients together with medical facilities which can provide the needed services and/or procedures in a timely and cost effective manner. Once arrangements have been made to the mutual satisfaction of our client and their physician, we have no ongoing involvement in the doctor-patient relationship. We act as a helping hand and walk each patient and their family make informed decisions. We will organize all aspects of health care travel arrangements to create a less stressful treatment.
It is important to give reliable and educated advise. We will fully explain to the patient, without rushing or compromise, every aspect of the procedure. When a client contacts us our first question is always "what has your doctor told you?" A diagnosis from a physician is a requirement. If you are not being seen currently, by a doctor, you can arrange for a private consultation with a specialist. Prior to your consultation, we will help you assemble diagnostics.
If you wish to proceed, an appointment will be made for you in one of our associated clinics or private hospitals. Certain private clinics in Canada are available, by law, to those private patients whose procedures entail no lengthy hospital stay. Moreover, treatment in private clinics is limited to procedures which are not medically necessary. If the procedure you require is medically necessary, the private clinics in Canada are forbidden by law to help you. This may not make any sense to you. It doesn't make any sense to us either. Unfortunately "It's the Law". For clients who do qualify for such procedures, we will always recommend remaining in Canada rather than traveling outside the country. For US patients the restrictions are laid by their insurance providers. US patient s who are under insured or non insured and do not qualify for Medicaid our network will be best suited.
Clients, whose surgeries or other procedures will require a longer stay, or are medically necessary, will be referred to an accredited hospital or clinic outside Canada. If a U.S. or Indian venue is preferred, every effort will be made to refer our client to a facility in a state or location of choice.
We will then make an appointment with the hospital where your required procedure will be performed. Following this initial visit, you will be provided with a detailed cost estimate that will include the specialist's fee and all hospital, laboratory and associated costs. Once consultation with the doctor is complete the patient is turned over to our consultant who then books the surgery date and informs the patient on what is expected next. A customized patient information booklet is given that is personalized to the patient and customized to your practice. Each patient receives a personalized "booklet" detailing the necessary information relating to her surgical experience. Documentation includes Preparing for Surgery, Medications to Avoid, Risks, Post-Operative Instructions, and Consent for Surgery, and Prescriptions.
We can arrange a total health care package with transportation to and from the medical facility, wherever it may be, as well as accommodation for family members. Our team will also take care of all the logistics necessary to make this experience less stressful.
